How it works
Hot Foil is a dry print process in which the code is transferred on to the surface to be printed by a combination of heat and pressure.
To print, the type and block are mounted in to the print head of the machine, and heated to the appropriate temperature. The product to be printed is next fed in to position, either by hand or using a feeding system such as the UDA 150 S. Finally the heated block and product are brought together with some pressure, and with the foil placed in between. The combination of heat and pressure releases the pigment from the foil and transfers the image to the printed surface.
This low cost form of printing can be used for marking a wide variety of surfaces, and has certain advantages over many other types of printing such as no fumes or solvent vapours and mixed ink. The printed product can be handled immediately and it is economic for short run printing.
