The alphaJET mondo is often used for printing expiry date or batch information. You can also print production data such as date, time and shift ID. You can print basic logos, and machine-readable data including: barcodes (EAN, 2/5i, Code 39 etc), data matrix codes and QR codes. The alphaJET mondo can print TrueType fonts.
You can use the alphaJET mondo to print on many different materials including foil, glass, metal, plastic, paper. Print results will sometimes depend on which ink is used. We always test ink suitability to make sure that there is good adhesion, contrast and legibility.
The alphaJET mondo is a ‘dye-based’ printer with a 62µ nozzle. While it is not suitable for thicker pigmented inks, the ink range includes: Standard black; MEK-free black; VOC-free non-flammable black; Low ketone; Red food-grade; Thermochromic dark brown to red colour change; Yellow.
The ink portfolio includes a red ink that the FDA has approved as suitable for marking packaging that comes into contact with food.
Continuous inkjet printing relies on product movement to trigger the print. It is normal for the print head to be mounted over (or next to) a section of conveyor or integrated into a packaging machine. If your production line runs at a variable speed (not fixed) you may also need a separate encoder to make sure your print length is not affected. In some applications, we supply a ‘sliding table’ or ‘hand-transport’ for moving a single product underneath the fixed print head. The mondo can also be used in conjunction with the udaFORMAXX carton feeder.
